The regular season has come to a close for high school football, and the #1 ranked Flint Powers Chargers did it with style in their last game as they shut out one of their old Big-9 rivals, the Flushing Raiders 54-0.

Sophomore Jacque Pougnet ran for touchdowns of 6 and 22 yards. Chris Konigsknecht was a big contributor as well, scoring on a 6-yard run from scrimmage, and a 22-yard interception return for a pick-6. Nick Sullivan and Brooks Morgan also cashed in with touchdowns. Prescott Myers has turned into not only a quality wide receiver, but has been steady handling the extra point duties.

After sneaking into the playoffs last season with a 5-4 record and winning the state Division 5 championship, no one is ignoring the Chargers this year. Coach Bob Buckel's defense has been solid this season, allowing an average of 7 points per game. The offense has scored just over 40 points per game, and they seem to get better each week. And it's not just the starters...the whole team contributes to Powers' success.

The playoffs start this Friday night at 7 p.m. Make sure to tune into WFNT 1470 and join me, Larry Loynes, and Will "The Thrill" McNeal for all the action!
