A new director has been chosen to take over at Bishop International Airport. After a nine-month search that started with 30 candidates, Craig Williams was chosen to take over for the current airport director Jim Rice, who is retiring in October.

According to MLive, Williams, who is currently the director of operations and facilities for the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport, was unanimously voted into the position on Tuesday afternoon.

Of the naming as new director, Williams said becoming an airport director has been a lifelong goal of his. Of Bishop International Airport and Flint, Williams said "I'm excited about the opportunity to be up there. It's a neat airport. I've had the opportunity to visit there in the past through my previous job and just go through Flint. I really like the airport."

Rice announced his retirement late last year after 24 years in the position and 44 years in the aviation industry.
