The Michigan State Police has announced they will hold a recruitment seminar this weekend for those interested in a career in law enforcement. The seminar, held in conjunction with the U of M - Flint Department of Public Safety, will provide job seekers with information about career opportunities with the MSP as well as the U of M - Flint DPS.

According to a news release from the Michigan State Police, minimum requirements for consideration of employment are:

  • Must be of good moral character.
  • A United States citizen.
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • No felony convictions.
  • Must be a Michigan resident at time of appointment to the MSP academy.
  • Have a good driving record.
  • Possess a stable credit history.

The starting salary at the beginning of a 21-week recruit school is $44,000 with an almost $8000 raise after one year on the job. The next trooper recruit school begins in February.

The seminar will be held this Saturday, December 13th beginning at 11 a.m. at the Harding Mott University Center, Kiva Room located on the U of M - Flint campus at 400 Mill St. in Flint.
