Call me crazy but I didn't realize that you can get a ticket for swerving to avoid an animal.

An 82-year-old woman swerved to avoid a squirrel in Traverse City over the weekend and ended up hitting a parked car and flipping her own.

Members of the Traverse City Fire Department were able to extricate the woman from her car with only some scrapes and bruises.

She was cited for driving without "due care and caution."

In short, this is bad news for people like my wife, AJ, who swerves to miss animals on a regular basis. Is it worth an accident and a ticket? Probably not.
