Michigan Cops Warn Against Celebrating Weddings With Donuts [VIDEO]
Cops and donuts. The two go way back and there are a plethora of jokes that celebrate the marriage of police officers and those tasty deep-fried delights.
But this isn't about that kind of donut. And it's not about that kind of marriage.
Not Your Average Nutty Donut
Police in the Detroit area are warning that celebrating your wedding nuptials with donuts is against the law. That is, it's illegal to celebrate tieing the knot by doing donuts on the highway.
You may recognize some of the scenery in the video below. Wedding guests just outside of Detroit decided to celebrate the happy couple saying "I do" by doing donuts on the Southfield Freeway near Warren.
Not Your Average Car Fire
The Michigan State Police officer spotted what he thought was a car fire as he headed home after his shift in a patrol car on Monday (6/28).
But the smoke above the highway wasn't from a car fire.
As the officer inched closer through stopped traffic, he realized that a wedding party was tieing up traffic by celebrating the fact that the happy couple had just tied the knot.
Not Your Average Traffic Stop
Grand Rapids TV station Fox 17 reports that the officer detained the man who had been doing the donuts on the freeway. The man -- who happened to be one of the groomsmen -- was ticketed for careless driving.
More proof that donuts aren't good for you.
