Meteor Burns Up in Orbit Over Mid-Michigan, See the Video
Many Michiganders noticed a bright, oddly colored lightning flash just after 8p tonight, while others were lucky enough to see what it really was, a meteor burning up in orbit. Now you can see it too.
It's not every day that you get to see a meteor burn up in the sky. Hell, I've been alive 37 years and have never witnessed such a thing. Tonight, however, around 8:00p ET, residents from Flint, Clio, Goodrich, Grand Blanc, and even as far south as Newport, Michigan over to Ontario have reported seeing exactly that.
Now, I should just say up front that I didn't go to a fancy meteor college, and can't confirm that this actually is a meteor burning up in orbit. Maybe it was closer than that. Again, I don't know how meteors work. It may even be one of North Korea's dud nukes or a UFO... I don't know. I do know that it was cool to look at and that the general consensus seems to be that it was a meteor.
Anyway, here's a bunch of videos that captured the "meteor" in all its glory. We'll try to update this story with any concrete details should they become available.
