A Lyft driver was recently arrested in Troy for driving drunk while having a passenger on board in the back seat.

A lot of times when someone requests a ride from Lyft it's because they've maybe had a few too many and want to make sure they get home safely. That's what a Rochester Hills man was attempting to do when he requested a ride from Lyft after a night of partying.

It was around three in the morning on July 2 when the passenger needed a ride to Rochester Hills from Detroit.

After getting picked up, the passenger felt something was off but didn't know right away that the Lyft driver was drunk behind the wheel.

Lyft passenger:

I-75 has like the construction, so she (driver) makes an excuse about why she has to drive in the middle which I didn't think much of it at the time cause I'm like whatever, there's no cars out. So she's like, you know I can't drive on the side because then I'm going to hit the curbs or whatever.

He said that he did notice that she was swerving a little bit. He also said her eyes were looking a little crazy but he didn't think much of it until he saw the police lights behind them.

According to Fox 2 Detroit, Troy police pulled over the 2020 Kia Optima near Rochester Road and Player Drive at 3:21 a.m. for multiple traffic violations.

The driver admitted to having two beers (the typical response). She then took a sobriety test and failed and blew a .18 which is well over the legal limit.

The passenger then got a ride home from the Troy police department.

It's pretty pathetic when you can't even get a ride home safely from someone that you're supposed to trust.
