Local State Reps React to Governor’s State of the State Address
State Representative Jim Ananich (D-Flint) on the State of the State Address:
"Middle-class families in Genesee County have been hit pretty hard the last few years, suffering tax hikes and not enough jobs. I'm disappointed we didn't hear more of a sense of urgency about how we can get people back to work and let them keep more of their hard-earned money. That's how I think we ultimately strengthen our economy for the future."
"We absolutely need to be doing more to keep our communities safe and prevent scrap metal theft. I've been working hard on this with anyone willing to pursue real solutions, but the time has come for less talk and more action."
State Representative Joe Graves (R-Argentine Township) on the State of the State:
"Tonight the governor highlighted the progress we have made streamlining and simplifying state government for Michigan's hard-working taxpayers. Although we have made great strides, we still have work to do in returning Michigan to its full potential. The governor stressed some of these challenges in tonight's speech and though there are no easy answers, I am committed to finding long-term solutions for our residents."
"Since taking office I have remained focused on creating a healthy economy, bringing jobs back to our state and working to increase public safety in our local communities. They will remain my top priorities and I look forward to finding common sense solutions to make Michigan a great place to live and work for decades to come."
