Let’s Talk About the Huge, Angry Pothole at the 75N/I-69 Ramp
If you've gone from Bristol Road onto northbound 75, you know exactly what I'm talking about.
This time of year is always brutal. Not only do the potholes get bigger and cause damage to our cars, but the butt-puckering moment you have to face these craters is stressful. That feeling of helplessness you feel when an unavoidable pothole appears only to destroy your quiet drive to work. It is never fun.
After spending most of my adult life driving in Michigan, there are some things I've just learned to accept and adapt to. The crazy pothole situation in Michigan is just one of them. I've learned to never drive in the right lane on Dort Highway between Maple and Hill Road unless you want to like you're driving in an earthquake. I've learned not to even bother with a car wash until three weeks after the last bit of snow melts, and much more.
For the most part, I don't complain too much as I know that mother nature really enjoys destroying the roads and the road workers really do a hell of a job trying to keep them driveable. For that road workers, we thank you!
However, if someone knows someone that knows someone that can put in a good word with the powers that be, pass this on for me. Please, for the love of tires, alignments, spilled coffee, and sudden heart attacks, please fix the giant pothole near the entrance to I-75 NB from Bristol Road. You know the one I am talking about. The angry and sadistic pothole gods have deviously placed that big m****** f***** perfectly in the middle of where most cars have to drive when getting on I-75 NB from bristol or on to I-69 from I-75. Also, the way the pothole has grown, it feels like the pavement in front of it has been turned into a ramp to launch your car. I apologize for not having a current picture of it. I'm more worried about sticking the landing when I drive over it than taking a photo.
Again, I appreciate every bit of work that the road workers do and they have a lot to deal with. A lot of times it is a thankless job and they are underappreciated, so buy a road worker a beer the next time you see one. This is just my small request and one pothole favor I will ask for this year.
Am I the only one that white knuckles the steering wheel and has to wipe after encountering that beast? Ok...I feel better now.
