The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk hits the streets of Downtown Flint Saturday, and I have the honor of hosting the opening ceremonies again this year.

This will be my fourth year hosting the Strides walk, and every year I get more excited to be a part of such a great event. Before I get into my personal feelings about the walk though, here are some of the things that you need to know about the walk.

  • Check in opens at 8:30am on the DDA Flat Lot in downtown Flint
  • You can pre-register online here to making checking in faster.
  • The opening ceremony starts at 9am with the walk starting at 10am.
  • The survivor group photo will happen at the main stage at 9:30am
  • After the walk is a huge party so stick around and have fun with everyone

One of the best ways to keep up with even announcements is by texting STRIDES WALK to 69922.

For the last three years I've been lucky enough to talk to this huge group of survivors, caregivers, and supporters. The most amazing thing to me is how diverse the crowd is each year. No matter what your background though, everyone has come together for one reason, to end breast cancer.

If you are not able to join us at the walk for any reason, you can still donate and help raise money.  The Making Strides website is full of great fundraising ideas.

You could also help out one of the Real Men Wear Pink of Genesee County representatives. I'm showing a little favoritism here, but I would suggest helping out my co-worker and friend Aaron Geisert by checking out his page here.

I hope to see you in Downtown Flint on Saturday, and please come up and say hi if you are there.
