Help Protect the Environment in Lansing on Earth Day April 22

There's plenty to keep us busy throughout the month of April. Easter Sunday will be here before you know it. Easter Sunday is April 17 and my wife and I are having a family get together that day.

Then a few days later on April 22, which happens to be a Friday, we celebrate another special day that we call "Earth Day."

Earth Day is an annual event which is celebrated around the world to demonstrate support for environmental protection.

I was reading an article in the Lansing State Journal that is promoting Greater Lansing events to help protect the environment.

One of the events is called "Party for the Planet" at Potter Park Zoo. Here's what the Lansing State Journal had to say:

On Saturday, April 23, Potter Park Zoo is hosting a "Party for the Planet," part of the largest Earth Day celebration in North America. The zoo is offering ways to explore conservation issues through various hands-on activities. The event takes place noon to 4 p.m. Learn more at PotterParkZoo.org.

We appreciate everything that Potter Park Zoo does to promote environmental protection. This event will be very informative for so many who stop by on April 23.

You can get involved as we celebrate "Earth Day" in so many ways.

Keep in mind with all the events mentioned in the Lansing State Journal, you can also step up by getting together with family and friends and help pick up debris along several lakes and rivers.

If you know of any river trail for example that needs cleaning up, grab some 30 gallon trash bags and do your part to help clean up the environment. It's as simple as that.

You can also do this in your own neighborhood. It's all about pitching in to help make Greater Lansing a much better place to live.
