UPDATE: It turned out that this was indeed a big misunderstanding, and police have resolved the issue. Thank you for your help.

Genesee Township Police are looking to identify a "suspicious contractor" spotted on camera at an area residence.

Things are typically pretty quiet in Genesee Township, but in the last few weeks there have been a couple of instances that are causing concern among residents. A few weeks ago, a burglary took place in the "birdland" neighborhoods, and now police are circulating a video of another suspicious, possible robbery-related activity.

Genesee Township Police are cautioning area residents of an incident where a man, who appears to be posing as a contractor for unknown reasons, was startled after realizing he was on camera and fled the residence. The incident, seen above, took place on Monday, March 6 at around 10:15 am on E Coldwater Road near Belsay.

After watching the video, you could see this as being a case of "oops, this is the wrong house," but it could also be a "make it look like I'm working here and not robbing the place" situation too. It really could go either way, and that's why police are trying to get to the bottom of it.

Police are asking residents to help identify the man, and to report any similar incidents as well. If you have any information relevant to this case, contact the Genesee Township Police at (810) 640-2000.
