If for whatever reason you couldn't make it to General Motors' job fair in Flint last month, don't stress about it too much, they're still hiring. Yes, they're still looking to hire more qualified bodies even though around 800 people showed up to simply get their foot in the door.

Because they're still waiting on background checks and drug screen results which will obviously play a big role in whether or not people get hired, the company says they're still looking to bring another 100 people on board.

Flint Assembly communications manager Jack Crawley:

Our job fair really went great. We ended up with right around 800 people total that came and went through the two days and we took about 700 people through the entire process, so that means consenting to a background check and doing a drug screen right on site.

You can make some solid money working at General Motors right now even if it is just temporary. Just getting your foot in the door and working part-time, you can start out at $16.67 an hour. There are even some full-time positions that start out at $15 an hour.

It’s no secret that hiring is tough right now -- not only in Michigan, but across the country, but really globally as well. So to have that kind of response really shows that when people have an opportunity to work for a company like GM, they want to snatch that opportunity.

According to ABC12, GM is going on a massive hiring spree because of an explosion in demand for its heavy-duty pickups built at Flint Assembly.
