Flint got great news this week concerning the ongoing fight against blight in the city.  Nearly $14 Million federal dollars will be coming to help clean up the area.

This is part of a much bigger government investment in the fight against blight, but Flint did get a huge chunk of that money.

The Genesee County Landbank is selecting the properties that will be demolished, and once approved, the structures will be torn down.

The money will fund the demolition of around 1,200 of the 5,000 homes in Flint that need to be torn down.  The cost of tearing down one house properly is estimated to be at least $5,000.

There's more than just demolition money coming to our area though, the government has also just approved around $18 Million to help Flint homeowners as well.
