Flint Clerk Inez Brown had to answer some tough questions, as she sat before a House committee and explained how the mayoral candidates were all given the wrong deadline to turn in their petitions.

Brown said she was taught to "not place blame for failure" and that she "accepts full responsibility" in the hour-long hearing... and then contradicted those two statements by blaming the major oversight on a mistake made by the Director of Elections and being understaffed.

Brown's office mistakenly informed Flint Mayoral candidates to have their petitions in on April 28th, but the deadline was actually April 21st. None of the candidates had enough validated signatures on April 21st and there are laws preventing them from being on the ballot because of that. The Senate passed a measure that would allow an extension of sorts, and now that bill must go through the House.
