Flint City Council Votes for Return to Detroit Water
The Flint City Council voted to stop using the Flint River as the city's primary water source and return to Detroit water.
According to the Detroit Free Press, the council approved the resolution on Monday night to reconnect the city to the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department. However, both Emergency Manager Jerry Ambrose and Mayor Dayne Walling are opposed to returning to Detroit for water. Residents have complained about Flint River water since making the switch last April.
While Flint remains under the control of an emergency manager, it is unclear what the motion will have. Councilman Eric Mays hopes it could prompt a meeting between Ambrose, Walling, the water department and the state.
