The Flint Institute of Arts will host the second annual “Create Your Own Masterpiece” intercollegiate Lego challenge this Saturday, February 18th from 1 until 4 p.m. The event is organized by the FIA’S College Town Student Advisory Council and is the only team competition held locally involving students from Kettering University, Baker College, UM-Flint, Mott Community College and Davenport University. The teams will compete for this year’s trophy and People’s Choice Award.

Each five member team will create sculptures on site during the event and the Lego masterpieces will remain on public view in the FIA lobby through February 26th. This year a junior competition for students in grades K-12 has also been added.

Last year, the event attracted over 900 viewers during the competition and was also the subject of a short film produced and directed by students from the Advanced Film Program at Mott Community College. Filmmakers from Mott will be shooting video again this year.

The “Create Your Own Masterpiece” Lego challenge is free to the public. For more information about this and other events at the Flint Institute of Arts, visit www.flintart.org or call (810) 234-1695.
