Jon Hamm Wins Outstanding Lead Actor in Drama at the 2015 Emmys
The 2015 Emmy Awards have already taken some wild swings, but everyone saw this one coming. After many years without recognition, Mad Men star Jon Hamm has finally taken home the statue for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama. He didn’t even need to devise a world-renowned Coke commercial!
“Nope, nope nope nope,” said Hamm at the outset of his speech, believing there to have been a terrible mistake. Hamm repeatedly acknowledged the impossible odds of his “impossible” win, one practically a decade in the making.
Tonight’s nominees included Kyle Chandler of Netflix’s Bloodline, Jeff Daniels of HBO’s The Newsroom, Bob Odenkirk of AMC’s Better Call Saul, Liev Schreiber of Showtime’s Ray Donovan, and Kevin Spacey of Netflix’s House of Cards. Last year, Bryan Cranston of Breaking Bad took home the honor.
Well, did Jon Hamm deserve the win? Who got snubbed the hardest? Be sure to check out our master list of tonight’s winners, and stay tuned for more from the 2015 Emmy Awards!
