Democrats to Announce Plan to Help Veterans Find Jobs
State Representatives Jim Ananich (D-Flint) and Charles Smiley (D-Burton), and State Senator John Gleason (D-Flushing) will join veterans and local advocates at the University of Michigan-Flint's Student Veterans Resource Center on Monday to announce legislation they have introduced to help small businesses hire veterans.
As Veterans Day approaches and the President withdraws nearly 40,000 troops home from Iraq by the end of the year, supporters are pushing for measures that will address the high rate of unemployment among those who have served in our military. A recent report found that Michigan was worst among all 50 states with an unemployment rate for veterans of nearly 30%. The announcement is 10 a.m., Monday, November 7.
