The City of Flint is inviting the enitire community to a tree lighting, holiday kick off event.

According to a press release from the city, officials "recognize this has been a challenging year for the citizens and the city, but this is an ideal time to come together, be thankful for the progress that has been made, and celebrate the holiday season."

Besides honoring local police and firefighters with trees lit with blue and red lights, there will also be a tree lit with white lights to represent unity and peace. Additionally, a choir will perform carols and everyone will be invited inside City Hall after the ceremony for refreshments. Picture with Santa will be available and there will also be giveaways for children in attendance.

The tree lighting and holiday kick off event begins Friday, December 2nd at 4:30 p.m. at Flint City Hall.
