The City of Flint is reminding residents that they are required to bag all yard leaves - and no longer rake leaves into the street - for curbside pickup through the end of November. According to a news release fro the city, anyone found to be dumping leaves into the street could be subject to a $25 fine from Blight Enforcement. Leaves that fall naturally into the street will be picked up by by the city in the way of two Leaf-Vac trucks. The city stresses this supplemental pickup should not be mistaken as option to avoid bagging leaves. The keeping of streets cleared will reduce the likelyhood that they will become lodged in storm sewers and cause flooding during heavy rain and the spring thaw of snow.
