Flint City Council is expected to meet today to discuss the proposed sale of a nine-mile section of pipeline to Genesee County.

According to MLive, Genesee County Drain Commissioner Jeff Wright has proposed $3.9 million for a section of existing pipeline to Lake Huron. Wright said the old pipeline section would be put to good use as part of the Karegnondi Water Authority project and provide the city with cash for an asset that doesn't otherwise serve any purpose.

Council members are expected to discuss the sale and how proceeds from it would be used. Flint Emergency Manager Darnell Earley has said the money would be used for infrastructure improvements for the Flint water system.

Monday's meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in city council chambers at Flint City Hall located at 1101 S. Saginaw Street.
