Legendary puppeteer and the voice behind Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch, Caroll Spinney, has passed away at his home in Connecticut at the age of 85.

Spinney had been battling Dystonia, a movement disorder that affects a person's muscles, for quite some time. He was originally hired to the Sesame Street team by Jim Henson and was named a "Living Legend" by Congress.
