A wine tasting and benefit will be held on Tuesday night in Flushing. A portion of the proceeds generated from the event will go to the Thomas Smith Memorial Foundation. Smith died unexpectedly at age 17 due to an undiagnosed, enlarged heart. The foundation's purpose is to make sure middle and high school students have access to free heart screenings by raising the funds to provide local hospitals with mobile cardiac equipment and local schools with automatic external defibrillators.

The wine tasting and benefit will be held at Main Street Treasures in downtown Flushing from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.. There will be a sampling of Michigan wines and gourmet foods, many of which will be available for purchase. Twenty percent of the sales will be donated to the Thomas Smith Memorial Foundation.
