At least 12 people are dead and up to 50 people injured in Aurora, Colorado after a mass shooting at a midnight showing of the new Batman movie, "The Dark Knight Rises."

According to Fox News, the suspect is in custody and appears to have acted alone. It's believed that the suspect came in through an emergency door, threw tear gas or smoke bombs, and then started shooting.

Police, ambulances and emergency crews arrived on the scene around 12:30 a.m. local time after numerous 911 calls.

The suspect was apprehended behind the theater. His name has yet to be released but is believed to be in his 20's and was reportedly wearing a bulletproof vest.
