As Of Today, Netflix is Raising Their Prices. Again.

Cool your heels, everybody - prices are only going up by $1 or $2 per month.

Get ready to dig an extra four quarters from the bottom of your purse - Netflix is raising their prices on standard and premium plans in the United States. And, believe it or not, it's NOT because of increased streaming during the pandemic.

The company's standard plan will raise in price $1 to $13.99 a month, while the premium plan will increase by $2 to $17.99 for new customers. The basic plan still stands for $8.99 per month. The last time that they raised their prices was in January of 2019.

Netflix is saying that the price increase will go towards the production of their original content, such as Ozark, Stranger Things, The Crown and more.

Subscriptions to the streaming service were down recently; the company had expected to add 2.5 million new customers in the last quarter. When all was said and done, however, they only added 2.2 million. Netflix is adamant, though, that this is NOT the reason for the price increase.

Listen - nobody likes to pay more for ANYTHING. I get mad when I go to the dollar store and the tax brings my $1 purchase to $1.06. Overall, though, this is a manageable increase. If it went up by $10 per month, that would be a different story. But, if you have the basic plan, this increase will only cost you $12 more per year. And it's STILL cheaper than having satellite.

And, as somebody who finally watched Ozark, I support whatever it will cost to keep that show on for another season.
