Amazon Echo is Now Programmed to Not Spoil Christmas
If your Amazon Echo spoiled Christmas last year by telling your kids what packages were being delivered for the holiday, don't worry about it this year, Alexa has your back.
Last year my son was really sneaky and since he gets home before me, he would ask Alexa about our notifications. In other words, he was asking her what packages were delivered or being delivered and she would tell him the contents of every package. So that turd kid of mine was able to figure out all of the presents he was getting for Christmas.
This year things are going to be different as I noticed today, Alexa is now programmed to not spoil Christmas. So, obviously, I wasn't the only one that dealt with this last year. This morning I noticed I had notifications because I have some packages being delivered today so I wanted to get to Alexa before my kid. So I said, "Alexa, what are my notifications." She replied, " you have two packages being delivered but I won't tell you the contents until after the new year so I don't spoil Christmas." This made me super happy.
I know I can turn off notifications all together but that's a feature I use a lot so I don't want to do that.
There's also a great feature to protect your kids from finding out the truth about Santa Claus. When asked if Santa Claus is real, Alexa will tell kids, “Just check if the cookies you set out for him are gone Christmas morning.”
The best feature of all is the feature that allows you to listen to Banana 101.5. Just make sure you enable the Banana 101.5 skill first.
If you know the exact name of the skill you want, you can say, "Enable (skill name)." Skill availability varies by country. For information about enabling and using skills for smart home devices, go to Connect Smart Home Devices to Alexa. You don't need Alexa skills to use the services available with Amazon Cloud Cam.
To enable Alexa skills in the Alexa app:
- From the menu, select Skills & Games.
- Find a skill you want to use, and then select it to open the skill detail page.
- Select Enable Skill, or ask Alexa to open the skill.
Tip: Refer to the skill's detail page for examples of things to say and to learn more.
