AJ’s 31 Days of Horror Movies: ‘Gerald’s Game’ [VIDEO]
This Netflix movie is based on a Stephen King novel of the same name.
If you're a true horror movie fan, you already know that you can't go wrong with Stephen King. This movie derives from his 1992 suspense novel; it was announced in 2016 that the book would be made into a movie for Netflix...and here it is.
Jessie and her husband Gerald, who are clearly in marital turmoil, go away for a romantic weekend at a secluded cabin. Gerald has some saucy plans for Jessie, which end up backfiring...and then he has a heart attack and dies while she's handcuffed to the bed.
This film will bring out your inner claustrophobia and survival instincts. You will absolutely feel panicked and wonder, "What would I do in this situation?" Because it's real. It could happen.
If you're watching it and wondering when it's going to enter into horror movie territory, never fear - it'll happen. And every time you think you've figured something out, it throws you a curveball.
WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW
The moonlight man is, by far, the most terrifying sight in the entire movie (technically, Jessie's father could easily be considered the most terrifying in other ways). You'll want to unsee it. You'll see it in the corner of your bedroom at night when you go to sleep.
Pay attention to the radio announcer while they're driving in the car and to the little things that Gerald does while getting ready to play his "game." All of it circles back.
Enjoy! Let me know what you think of it!
