A two-year old girl and her grandmother were taken to the hospital for treatment to injuries suffered when they were struck by a Geo Tracker while riding on a scooter Sunday afternoon.

The incident happened near the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Lynch Street and according to Mlive, police at the scene said the woman driving the Tracker said she was putting out a cigarette as she pulled onto Pennsylvania when she struck the scooter being driven by the grandmother.

Both women were taken to Hurley Medical Center for treatment of undisclosed injuries. Police did not say whether speed or alcohol contributed to the accident.
