Who Should Be on TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People List?

It makes sense that the masses should decide who has had an influence over them. Perhaps this is the theory behind TIME Magazine’s recent release of its 200-name ballot for its yearly list of the world’s 100 most influential people. A list that includes a variety of well-known people, with both positive and negative personas.

TIME has published its poll and is asking readers to cast “votes for the leaders, artists, innovators, icons and heroes that you think are the most influential people in the world.” According to the site, the winner in the online poll will be included in the TIME 100 issue, while the complete list of the 100 names will actually be selected by the magazine’s editors.

Some very obviously influential names appear on the list, like President Obama (as well as his wife, Michelle), Ben Bernanke, Newt Gingrich and New York Knicks sensation Jeremy Lin. Other names you might recognize include Jennifer Lawrence, Kristen Wiig, Lady Gaga, Pete Cashmore (creator of Mashable), Tim Tebow, Anonymous, Louis C.K., George Clooney and Queen Elizabeth.

There are also some interesting names on the list because of who is not listed with them. Stephen Colbert is on the list, but not Jon Stewart. There is Rupert Murdoch, but not James. The KONY 2012 movement made the list, but its creator Jason Russell did not.

The results of the poll will be revealed on April 17.
