Sec. of State Ruth Johnson to Kayak from Mackinac Island to Mainland

Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson is making a seven-mile kayak trip from Mackinac Island to Mackinaw City on Friday, May 31st.

Weather permitting, Johnson will be in her personal 18-foot kayak for the trip across the straits which could take up to three hours

Pure Michigan License Plates to be Unveiled

A license plate featuring the Pure Michigan tourism logo is expected to be unveiled today. It will replace the state's standard license plate.

According to WNEM, a second license plate will gradually replace the "Spectacular Peninsulas" plate. It will cost drivers an additional $5 above regular car registration fees.
