UPDATE 5/9/22: Today is the deadline. By now you should have received your $400 Michigan insurance refund. If your refund does not hit your bank account today and is not in your mailbox, contact your insurance provider ASAP.

Michigan insured drivers - we are getting closer to receiving our insurance refund checks.

If you are unfamiliar, we learned in November of 2021 that insured Michigan drivers would be receiving refund checks. At that time the question was - how much would we be getting and when? I can now answer both of those questions for you today.

You should have your $400 insurance refund check by Monday, May 9th. Checks will be mailed or via direct deposit. If for some reason you do not receive your money by then, you should contact your insurance provider. Questions and or concerns can also be addressed by calling the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services at (833) 275-3437.

According to Fox 2 Detroit, drivers that insured their vehicle by 11:59 PM on Oct. 31, 2021 will receive a refund. If you are still unclear, I recommend calling your agent.

The only question left to answer is - what will you do your refund check? I have a feeling I will be putting mine toward my annual pontoon winter storage bill. If not, I will TRY to save it.

Whatever you do with your money is up to you, I for one am just happy we (insured drivers) are getting something back. You and I both have paid a lot of money over the years for auto insurance - it is nice to get some kind of return.

As with any good news, there is bad news. Be aware that this is the perfect opportunity for con artists to attempt scams over the phone or through email. You do NOT have to pay anyone to get your refund check. All you have to do now is wait.
