Local Leaders to Answer: Are You Smarter Than a Grade Schooler?

Facebook

Fifth graders from Flint’s Cummings Elementary School, St. Paul Lutheran School, and Reid Elementary School in Grand Blanc will pit their academic skills against contestants Flint Mayor Dayne Walling; Dr. Dick Shaink, President of Mott Community College; Community Foundation President Kathi Horton; Dr. Jonathon Wenzel, Chemical Engineer at Kettering University; and, Craig Coney, President of Career Alliance in a test to see who is smarter.

“We have a strong group of fifth graders that are ready to prove they are smarter than the adults” said Sue Nederlander, Executive Director of The Flint Children’s Museum. “I think our contestants could be in real trouble.”

Mayor Walling is looking forward to participating. He said, “This event will be a fun way to shine a spotlight on the amazing work of the Flint Children’s Museum. I am sure that the 5th graders will be a formidable challenge and prove that we have great young people in our community.”

Audience members will be invited to answer pop quizzes about Michigan during the program. The event will be hosted by WNEM TV 5s Carrie Sharp with Vera Perry, Flint Board of Education Treasurer as “the Teacher.”

Proceeds from the event will support educational initiatives at The Flint Children’s Museum.

Tickets are $20/Adults and $10/Students and are available by contacting The Flint Children’s Museum at 810-767-KIDS or at the door. A post-game dessert reception will be held immediately following at The Flint Children’s Museum.
