Workers at GM's Flint Assembly plant are used to a two-week shutdown in the summer, but this year they are getting an extended break. Instead of the normal two-week shutdown in July, workers at Flint Assembly will get four weeks this year.

General Motors will use the extra two weeks to make upgrades to the equipment used to make the GMC Sierra, and two versions of the Chevy Silverado.

Just over 3,000 GM workers will be affected by this shutdown, 2,900 of those are hourly workers.
