Flyer for Martin Luther King Day Event Sparks Outrage

WNEM

A flyer publicizing a Martin Luther King Day event in Flint has sparked outrage. The flyer – depicting Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. wearing a large gold chain and flashing a gang sign – has drawn national attention. It was part of an advertisement for a party to be held at Flint resident Victor McEwen’s event center this Saturday. According to WNEM, McEwen had no knowledge of the flyer and contacted the person who had rented out his hall under the name Mid-Michigan Teen Parties but got nowhere. McEwen ended up canceling the contract for the party and giving the person a refund. He says he knows he did the right thing.
