Mott Community College has agreed to lease four lots owned by the City of Flint in an effort to clean up the area around its campus. According to MLive, the lease of the four parcels north of Longway is for the next 30 years. Flint Emergency Manager Darnell Earley has already signed off on the move in which the college will pay the city $1 annually. Mott Community College spokesman Michael Kelly said "we're taking responsibility to make the campus entrance more pleasant" and the agreement is the formalization of an effort that had already begun. The college is trying to emphasize the use of Longway as its main entrance to campus and wants it, and the city, to look good. Kelly also added if blight is fought in the area, "you're helping the entire city" and the college is "trying to be a good neighbor."
