The City of Flint has announced they are now accepting applications for both its eligible Firefighter/EMT and Firefighter/EMT trainee lists. The lists, according to a news release from the city, will be used to fill vacant positions within the flint Fire Department. They will also be kept over the next two years as more positions become available within the department due to retirements and other factors. Both positions will be posted until Friday, September 5th.

Eligibility for the Firefighter/EMT list requires a State of Michigan Firefighter I and Firefighter II certificate. Eligibility for the Firefighter/EMT trainee position requires an education equivalent to completion of high school. Trainees must be 18 years of age, but individuals can apply who are withing six months of the minimum age by the examination date of September 12th. According to the city, they may complete the examination, but may not be appointed to a position in the classified service prior to reaching 18 years of age. Applications are only being taken online at: www.cityofflint.com. On the job training will be provided.
