Students at Baker College are presenting an architectural walking tour of downtown Flint this weekend in which participants can learn more about the city's history through its architecture. The free tour, entitled Discover Flint, begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, and is one-mile in length. The group will stop at the new Flint Farmers' Market where lunch will be available for purchase.

Included in the tour - which will be led by two American Institute of Architect Flint members - are the grounds of Applewood, the former CS Mott estate; the Flint Institute of Arts; a building designed to withstand an earthquake and a building patterned after a Greek temple. The tour guides will also include interesting facts about Flint such as why the city is located where it is, how Native Americans impacted the city and how the iconic weatherball operates. All tour participants will also receive the AIA Flint Guide to Flint's Architecture.
