After this storm, while perusing the PureUP Facebook group, I came across these beautiful photos from a photographer named Laura Maynard. A Marquette native, she moved to the U.P. from Wisconsin at age 5 and never left.
It is estimated that there are about 550 shipwrecks in Lake Superior, most of which are undiscovered. Well, you can scratch a few more off that list as the Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society recently discovered three 1800’s-era shipwrecks in Lake Superior near Grand Marais, Michigan.

"Otherworldly" is the word that first comes to mind when you see these photographs. The images are from a Lake Superior shipwreck, one with a possibly fascinating history, made all the more interesting by the mystery attached to it.
