When Netflix passes, go to Showtime? If Elizabeth Marvel can’t win the presidency on House of Cards, it appears as if Homeland will give her a shot. The actor has officially been called to play the first female President (elect) for Homeland Season 6, depicting the delicate transition of power.

Just when we’d gotten excited for Homeland Season 6 to move to New York City in the fall, Showtime has good and bad news. The sixth run of Claire Danes’ counter-terrorism thriller has been moved to 2017, though a Season 7 and 8 renewal is nearly official.

It’s been some time since Showtime’s Homeland left us on a vague Season 5 end, and promised to return to the United States in Season 6. Fall 2016 itself may be a charged time for the country, and it seems Carrie Mathison will get right back in the middle, as Season 6 eyes the vulnerable time between our elected and outgoing President.

'Homeland' will undergo something of a metamorphosis in its fourth season, shifting from the story of Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) and Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) to a more generalized tale of an intelligence officer in a foreign country. We've seen one trailer to date, but the newest look at 'Homeland' season 4 gives off a much better look at the ensemble, promising a two-hour premiere to remember.
