The fifth-ranked Michigan State Spartans lost last night, 70-55, to the 18th ranked Indian Hoosiers in their first bid to win the Big Ten Title outright.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the Spartans were down from the beginning as Indiana pounded the boards early. MSU made a run in the second half but were never able to get closer then six points.

MSU still has some chances to win their sixth outright title. If Ohio State and U of M lose this week, both 11-5 in the conference, then MSU wins. Or if they simply win against OSU Sunday at the Breslin Center. Currently, MSU holds a 1 1/2 game lead over both teams.

MSU is 24-6 overall and 13-4 in the conference.
