Sorry, Folks – Your Self-Standing Broom Has Nothing to Do With NASA
We fell for it, too.
I got a text from my friend Trish last night, who lives in Texas, asking me about the broom challenge.

WHAT IS THIS SORCERY?!?!?! PAT GO GET THE BROOM!
So of course, we tried it.
It's possible that we did something wrong, or that our broom sucks. Regardless, if your broom stood up by itself yesterday, that's super cool...but it WILL stand by itself today, too.
No, it has nothing to do with NASA or the tilt of the earth or the vernal equinox (which doesn't even happen until March). It's gravity.
The bristles on your broom can act as the bottom legs of a tripod and prop up your broom. So, if you didn't try it yesterday, you could do it today and it will still work.
Sorry.
