Quentin Tarantino’s Next Could Be a 1930s Gangster Movie?
Quentin Tarantino's latest film - 'Django Unchained' - hasn't even hit theaters yet (you'll have to wait until Christmas Day for that) but talk has already turned to what his next film might be. It seems early to speculate on another film but when a director as good as Tarantino talks retirement, you need to enjoy what few movies you may have left. So what's Tarantino got up his sleeve for his next project?
Sorry 'Kill Bill 3' dreamers. While the long-rumored sequel might be on the wish list for some fans, Tarantino's got something more original up his sleeve.
The writer/director spoke recently at a BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) screening of 'Django Unchained' and when asked about what he would want to do next, this is what he told the crowd (via Bleeding Cool):
I could conceive maybe someday doing a 30′s gangster picture, or something like that. I could think of doing another western, actually.
This isn't the first time Tarantino has mentioned his desire to do a gangster movie. Back in 2009, he told a crowd at the Morelia Film Festival he had designs on making a Pretty Boy Floyd-style gangster film.
Of course Tarantino likes to talk about a lot of projects he may have interest in. He had his eyes on a number of genres after 'Inglourious Basterds' and eventually decided he wanted to do his take on a Western. And with that out of the way, it may leave the door open for a different kind of Tarantino gangster movie.
What do you think? If you could pick one genre of movie for Tarantino to write next, what would it be?
