Students may or may not see their professors in class today.

Recently, professors at Oakland University and the administrators of the college have been in contract negotiations. Apparently, the deadline to reach a new contract was last night at midnight. As of now, there was no agreement reached between the university administrators and the Oakland University Chapter of the American Association of University Professors.

It is the hope of the university to resolve the contract issues as soon as they can as to not disrupt the fall semester. Classes will not be canceled. The administrators are asking that all students still report to class as scheduled. They have been instructed to wait for 15 minutes to see whether or not the professor will be teaching the class. The university administrators have said that all students will be responsible for all course content and assignments that are delivered during the negotiation period. Students can also contact their professors in advance to see if their classes will be in session.

Even though the Oakland University administrators and the Oakland University Chapter of the American Association of University Professors are still in negotiations, all school activity will continue. Those activities include all university classes, support services, extracurricular activities, and other operations.

Hopefully, the negotiations will be resolved soon and the students can get back to normal. For more information, follow Oakland University on Facebook here or check out the letter to students on the Oakland University website.

I have a lot of fond memories from my college days. Odd occurrences like this are some of them.
