The new bill would allow customers to dine with their dogs at restaurants that have patios.

Sen. Margaret O'Brien has sponsored a bill that would allow pets at the dinner table at restaurants in Michigan.

Although the senator wouldn't bring her dog to the restaurant herself, she knows some that would like the option to bring their furry friends with them while they eat outside.

Senate Bill 122 and House Bill 4187 would allow customers to bring their dogs on restaurant patios under certain conditions. The restaurants would be required to keep their patios free of dog hair and waste and customers would not be allowed to walk their dogs through the restaurant.

Currently it is against the law to bring your dog on a restaurant patio.
