Dreams came true for sports fans in Michigan when the legalization of retail sports betting became a reality in March 2020. According to The New York Post, this paved the way for the legalization of online sports betting in January 2021, thanks to laws signed into power in December 2019 by Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

How Much Will Be Wagered Nationwide in March?

It's mind-boggling to know that Forbes estimates Americans to wager approximately $3.1 billion during March Madness in 2023.

And, as reported by Manistee News, Michiganders will bet about $115 million of that $3.1 billion on the NCAA March Madness tournament in 2023. This will surpass the predicted $100 million according to the PlayUSA Network, which includes PlayMichigan.com.

Are There Any Tips for Wagering in March?

According to some of my most outspoken sports betting friendswhether you are betting for the first time or a seasoned veteran, there are still some helpful tips to follow if you are looking for the best return on your investment.

Again, these are tips from my most outspoken sports betting friends

1) I have heard all of my betting friends say, on multiple occasions, that you have to "listen to the experts." Do what the experts tell you and you, too, will be successful.

2) Since there is no "home court" during the tournament, don't let the location of each individual game bog your betting practices down. The locations mean nothing.

3) Don't worry about anything but seeds when making your bets. Obviously, if you bet on the best seeds, they will win.

4) Coaching in general becomes much less important during the actual tournament.  According to my betting buddies, once your team has made it into the tournament, it is what it is from that point forward. And no prior coaching experience is going to make a difference at that point.

5) Many people forget to look at the bonuses and promotions offered for each online wager. But this is okay. There are really no advantages when betting online.

Now, because the people offering the advice are friends, this year I decided to throw some of my hard-earned money into the ring and take their advice.

Until... reality hit me.

Who to Believe?

It dawned on me that none of the people giving me this advice were living in penthouses, driving Lamborghinis, wearing designer clothing, or eating caviar. And, after doing a little research of my own, I realized why. When the advice you're being given by your betting buddies is the exact opposite of what the experts at Pick Boss are saying, it explains a lot.

So, will you be putting any money down in March?  And, if so, will you be following the advice from any strategic betting tips?

I have always been the "you can't lose money if you don't bet it" kind of person. But, on the other hand, I have run into many "you have to be in it to win it!" people as well. Both thought processes are true. So, when the tournament starts, which will you choose?

PS.  If you choose the latter, good luck!
