National Beer Day is coming up this Thursday!!!

Back on April 7th, 1933, the Cullen-Harrison Act was signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. This act legalized the sale of beer in the United States with an alcohol content of 3.2% by weight. This made way for the Eighteenth Amendment to be the first and only amendment to be repealed.

The Eighteenth Amendment established the prohibition of alcohol in the United States in January of 1919. The Twenty-first Amendment repealed the Eighteenth Amendment on December 5th, 1933.

A couple of fun facts for you about National Beer Day:

  • April 6th is known as New Beer's Eve
  • Upon signing the Cullen-Harrison Act, President Franklin D. Roosevelt said "I think this would be a good time for a beer."
