In an attempt to add some healthier alternatives to their breakfast menu, McDonald’s announced earlier this week that it is currently testing a new, lower-calorie breakfast sandwich called the Egg White Delight McMuffin.

The fast food giant says that it is testing the Egg White Delight McMuffin this week in Austin, Texas, and Atlanta, in hopes of gathering enough quantitative data for the restaurant to decide whether to add the 260-calorie sandwich to the menu in other areas of the country.

However, people searching for a healthier alternative to their fast food breakfast may not be all that impressed with the Egg White Delight McMuffin. Even though the sandwich contains a “freshly grilled egg white,” it also comes with cheddar cheese and a slab of Canadian bacon, not to mention it has only 40 fewer calories that the traditional Egg McMuffin.

Still, representatives from McDonald’s say they are determined to add more fresh, seasonal vegetables and fruit, as well as continue to improve on their menu’s nutrition profile.
