Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) students will complete the first phase in the process of creating a tile mural that will be placed in a prominent location at the new Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy headquarters.

Today students with special needs, working in partnership with local artists from Very Special Arts Michigan-Genesee County, finished the glazing step on the ceramic tiles. The mural, expected to be completed by June, will feature recognizable Genesee County landmarks with a focus on health and wellness.

Lauren Ganapini, Community Relations and Marketing Director for Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy, said "we are thrilled to work with the GISD and its students on this project. It is exciting knowing that the mural will be on display at our headquarters for years to come."

Similar murals have been created over the last decade featuring animals, people, professions, and nature through the eyes of children. Most of these murals are located within GISD facilities that serve students with special needs. Two years ago, a mural was located at Bishop International Airport as the first one in a high traffic business location in the community.
