The Centers for Disease Control has been monitoring a health situation that is now affecting 16 other states, including Michigan.
Measles is a disease that is running rampant throughout many states. According to the CDC, about 1 in 5 people in the U.S. who get measles will be hospitalized.
"As of March 7, 2024, a total of 45 measles cases were reported by 17 jurisdictions: Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York City, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington."
There were only 58 total measles cases throughout the entire country during 2023. But in the first three months of 2024, we almost beat the previous year's total number.
What Is Measles?

How Can You Tell That You Have The Measles?
The Centers For Disease Control says that a rash will normally appear within 14 days after being exposed to the measles. A person with measles is contagious 4 days before the rash shows up and 4 days afterward.

A child who is sick should drink plenty of liquids, get lots of rest, and stay home from school, daycare, and other community or group activities to prevent spreading the infection."
